Litecoin breaks ahead

As we saw in a recent analysis of LTC/BTC, 0.025 seemed to be quite low. Well after the news that Huobi will list LTC we saw a rise in LTC/BTC to 0.027 today. This is an 8% rise which comes after a long lull in the rate.

ImageWhat does this mean in real terms?

This morning it would have cost your ~40LTC where as now it costs you ~37LTC to purchase 1BTC. LTC has got stronger compared to BTC.

Alongside this 8% gain in LTC/BTC, LTC outperformed BTC which only rose $1 today as of now, a marginal amount when BTC is currently $632 vs LTC’s $17.

Huobi to list LTC market observed

After the news this morning that Huobi will list Litecoin we saw LTC take off today- both in its USD value (up to 17USD) and strength against BTC (up to 0.027) to the sound of clucking chickens. Let’s take a look with some graphs..

Here we can see those green bars and for everyone holding LTC wants to see, its like a line of Christmas trees.

But before we start celebrating let’s take a step back.

While the price of LTC has reached a recent high and bucked the downtrend, it is still only at it’s January highs. It must also be noted that currently its furry memecoin cousin saw higher growth today (25% vs LTC 7%)

Is this to say the growth should be ignored? Definitely not, however if your hoping to see LTC to its fullest remember it needs to cross the $48 mark again.

Stay tuned for analysis of LTC/BTC- is the silver cryptocoin breaking free?

Don’t count your Litecoin chickens before they land

Every major product has a slogan attached. In this Web 2.0 age it’s the internet that gets that right and like so many memes, grammar is of no importance.

Litecoin’s frequently seen catchphrases are “To the Moon” and “Arise Chikun”. If its not clear what these mean then put down the VCR remote and listen quick, quite simply it means “I reckon the price is/will go up”.

The one thing to remember is that while LTC may have a certain dollar value right now, you only realise the gains once you convert back to a fiat or purchase something.

Flappy Wallet

ImageSo you’ve got that triple digit high score on that bird game and now you want something new- what else is on the Android platform? Litecoin duh! If my previous post on disappearing hot wallets left you a bit worried and your laptop is too heavy to carry around all the time, this might just be for you.

The Litecoin Wallet (de.schildbach.wallet_ltc) can be installed from the Play store to your device in minutes and will allow you to make transactions on the move- Something Litecoin needs if it is to prosper as a really alternative currency. You also have the power to import previously generated private keys to the Android wallet. The app acts as a cold wallet and will allow you to view your balance as well as generate QR codes and price conversion between different fiat (think GBP/USD) currencies.

If you thought losing that £500 smart phone after a night of too many lemonades was worrying, just think about what happens if you lost 30LTC with it. Because of this I would advise gaining root if needed and taking a back up of the infamous wallet.dat to another device- Also if you hadn’t already, think about adding a pin/swipe lock to turn on when the device turns off to stop others trying to cash out.

Overall the app looks great for LTC users on the move and a powerful way to share the simplicity of making transactions.
